The Duchess of Sussex has revealed 15 charities which her @SussexRoyal Instagram account will follow.

Earlier this month Meghan and Harry asked their 9.3 million followers of there @SussexRoyal Instagram page to nominate “forces for change” worthy of being recognised on social media.

Mental health charities, bee conservation projects and Third World outreach programmes are among the groups. The Australian Beyond Blue campaign is included; there are no New Zealand organisations.

By giving these accounts the royal stamp of approval, it is hoped the campaigners’ profile will swell substantially.

Of the 15 accounts, only two appear to be UK-based. Four are headquartered in the US. It comes after Meghan’s decision to include only five British “trailblazers” for her Vogue cover sparked a backlash in Britain.

Meghan’s chosen Instagram accounts:

1. Rafiki Mwema, Kenya, a school for girls who have experienced horrific sexual abuse.

2. Beyond Blue, Australia, promoting good mental health to reduce anxiety, depression and suicide rates.

3. Art Of Hope, Syria, trauma relief for child refugees in Syria and surrounding host countries.

4. Lion Guardians, Kenya, conserving the dwindling wild lion population across Africa.

5. Love The Oceans, Mozambique, protecting marine life on the west African nation’s coast.

6. Global Wellness Day, Turkey, an event to promote healthy living.

7. Earth Day Network, US, a day calling for action on climate change.

8. Tiny Tickers, UK, improving detection and treatment for babies with serious heart problems.

9. Plan, UK, sponsoring children facing violence and discrimination, often in Third World countries.

10. Pawsitive, US, pairing California prisoners with rescue dogs in need of shelter.

11. Children International, US, breaking the cycle of child poverty through 70 community centres where youngsters enjoy medics, libraries and playgrounds.

12. Free Wheelchair Mission, US, designing and making wheelchairs for the disabled in under-resourced nations.

13. Beescause, Canada, raising funds to build beehives and employ keepers.

14. Waves For Change, South Africa, improving young people’s mental health through surfing.

15. Blink Now, Nepal, “changing the world by empowering Nepal’s children”.—
