A family of foxes in Toronto is proving so popular that local authorities have had to set up a fence to protect them.

The baby foxes living in Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood have drawn crowds of onlookers, but authorities are urging residents to leave the kits alone.

“Foxes can thrive living in the city, but only if they’re left alone. In an effort to enforce social distancing and protect the fox family, the City of Toronto had set up barricades and warning signs around the den,” said the Toronto Wildlife Centre on social media.

“However, they have since been removed and people continue to gather and feed the babies. We are currently working with the city to get new barricades back around the den, but the public needs to know to leave this family be.”

The wildlife centre is urging people not to feed the fox family, as it could negatively affect the kits’ development.

The presence of the cute little local celebrities also poses another problem – they are causing crowds of people to gather who are not respecting social distancing.

Toronto has seen an increase in wildlife roaming the streets lately, which has been linked to everyone staying indoors.
