Rallying behind the health workers that are busy battling COVID-19 is nothing new for 50-year-old McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves McConaughey.

The pair previously donated 80,000 masks to frontline workers in Austin, Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana.

“It was important for us to make sure that here in Austin, not just the hospitals got them, but also the police department and the fire department as well. In this moment, we’ve got to find ways to help both sides because they’re all on the front line right now and we can’t afford to lose any of them,” Camila told People back in April.

McConaughey also posted a special message to graduates at the University of Texas at Austin. As COVID-19 struck, many graduates were to graduate via virtual ceremonies. McConaughey quickly got behind the idea, softening the blow for those students who were no longer able to graduate in person.
