“We work hard to keep our relationship alive” – Nicole Kidman reveals the secrets to marital bliss.

Australian actor Nicole Kidman has opened up on the secrets to her blissful marriage with country music superstar Keith Urban. Speaking to ITV, 47-year-old Kidman, who met Urban at an L.A event almost a decade ago, admitted that she would love to expand her brood – despite the objections of her mother.

“If I could I would have four more,” she said.

Already mother to four children, two adopted from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise and daughters Sunday (6) and Faith (4) with Urban, Kidman went on to say:

“I have four children already and my sister has six children so my mum’s like, “We’re done. We’re done.”

On the topic of her eight-year marriage to Urban, the Moulin Rouge actor believes it has a lot to do with meeting later in life.

“We’ve been married eight years and together for nine,’ she added. ‘We work really hard to keep a relationship alive and to keep it incredibly deep and intimate.

“That’s through meeting in later life and having lived a life and coming together at a particular time that was serendipitous.

“There are incredible possibilities for love in the latter years. I sound like some old woman. Like a grandmother. Anyway, it’s good and I’m grateful.”

Kidman also cites remaining grounded as another recipe for marriage success. While she detests ironing, the actor says she makes up for it by picking up other chores around the house.

“I don’t do the ironing, even though as a kid that was my number one chore at home. Ironing my dad’s shirts, which I loved doing.

“Sunday and Faith both have their chores that they have to do every single day even though they groan about it.

“I certainly do my things. I love washing clothes. I do love it, I love watching the dirty water come out. I sound so OCD. I just love seeing them get clean.”
