Following on from the first successful collaboration between American artist Jeff Koons and French fashion house Louis Vuitton, the power couple are returning with a second chapter.
The new collection is a continuation of the first, which was inspired by Koons’s “Gazing Ball” series. Once again, the pieces feature iconic artwork from the art world’s masters. This time around, it’s the creations of Claude Monet, post-impressionist Paul Gauguin, impressionist Édouard Manet, Nicolas Poussin, English romantic J.M.W. Turner and François Boucher that emblazon Louis Vuitton leatherwear.
“They are part of my DNA,” Koons says of the artworks. “When somebody walks down the street with this bag, or sits in a cafe with this bag,” Koons says of the Manet Neverfull,“it’s communicating a love of humanism.”
The collection will be available in-store in New Zealand on 27 October.
