Lorde announces New Zealand and Australian ‘Solar Power’ tour for 2022

Following the release of her single ‘Solar Power’, Lorde has announced she will be beginning a global tour in 2022, starting in New Zealand and Australia.

The singer, who last performed during her Melodrama tour in 2017, says this will be more of an “intimate” tour.

“Theatres and green fields rather than arenas,” she shared in her newsletter. “This is gonna be a sick tour. We’ve just hired five new band members.”

Lorde will begin her New Zealand tour on 26 February 2022 at Electric Avenue festival in Christchurch, before heading to Upper Moutere, Lower Hutt, Havelock, New Plymouth and Auckland.

She’ll then go to Australia to play in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Lorde will continue her tour around the world, heading to Europe, the UK and North America.

Solar Power the album will be released on 20 August and is produced with her Melodrama collaborator Jack Antonoff.

In a statement, Lorde said her third album is a “celebration of the natural world.”

“An attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through.”

Spark pre-sale tickets for her NZ dates go on sale midday, 28 June. Frontier members pre-sale goes on sale midday, 30 June. And tickets for general public go on sale midday, 5 July on Ticketmaster.
