Levis x Ganni Collab Launches

Globally, denim sales might have dipped dramatically over the past year, with fewer people feeling compelled to stock up on skinny jeans amid a pandemic that’s kept them locked indoors for the better part of 12 months. But here in New Zealand, where COVID-19 has long-since ceased interfering with our daily lives and wardrobe choices, denim is as ubiquitous as ever.

To that end, fans of Danish brand Ganni should set aside some room in their drawers for the second, limited edition Ganni x Levi’s collab, dropping online and at select Ganni and Levi’s retailers this week. A hotly-anticipated follow-up to last year’s Ganni x Levi’s ‘Love Letter’ collection made entirely from upcycled materials, the 2021 capsule builds upon a brand partnership centred around responsible fashion, sustainability, and design innovation.

Utilising a special cottonised hemp made from rain-fed hemp crops, which significantly decreases the impact of each garment on the environment (denim manufacturing is notorious for the excessive quantities of water required), the 14-piece ready-to-wear collection is just that — a tight edit of ultra-wearable styles you will reach for over and over, thanks to their endless mixing and matching potential.

From chambray shirts with statement Peter Pan collars, to high-waist shorts, flared jeans and and empire-line denim dresses, the silhouettes speak to Levi’s strong, ’70s influences, while unique design details such as the faded rose motif seen throughout the collection imbues it with Ganni’s own distinct style signature.

For his part, Ganni creative director Ditte Reffstrup remembers stepping into the Levi’s HQ “and seeing team members wearing GANNI and Levi’s together and thinking; this collaboration feels so right.” Like the perfect pair of jeans, we certainly couldn’t imagine a better fit.
