Kate Winslet shares her tried-and-true beauty tips
The secret to the star's glowing skin might surprise you.

Kate Winslet has shared her beauty tips and tricks – and they’re surprisingly simple. “First off, I have to say right away that sleep and health play a big part in looking fresh,” she told British Vogue. “If I’m over-tired or stressed, no amount of make-up and hair can disguise the impact of that on one’s face.”

The Oscar-winning actress said that if she has a red carpet event approaching, she prepares ahead of time.

“I do try and look after myself in the few days running up to that moment. Nothing fancy or expensive but I’m 42 now, so I can’t get away with murder anymore! So my top tip would be water. Water, water, water. Keep the body hydrated and the skin will follow suit.”

The 42-year-old actress has been the face of beauty giant Lancome since 2007, but has maintained a basic approach to skincare and beauty.

“I probably moisturise my body much more these days than I used to. Mainly natural oils on the body though, because I don’t want to use too many chemical products on a larger area of skin,” she explains.

As for beauty, Winslet wears “minimal five-minute make-up. A quick, all-over, thinnest-of-thin-layers of foundation. I always curl my eyelashes out of habit more than anything but no mascara in the daytime. My routine is pretty fast because it just has to be. It’s fast, no fuss.”

The star has long been passionate about body positivity, telling MiNDFOOD in our October 2017 issue that “my face is basically a tool of my profession. So I have to own that and be proud of it. My crows-feet, for example, are hard won and I love them.”

She added that things change as you age. “Beauty in your 40s is about depth and experience. And good habits,” she told MiNDFOOD. “Drink lots of water. Get outdoors as much as you can. Also, I exercise a lot and that makes an enormous difference in terms of endorphins and skin health.”
