Kate Middleton Makes a Surprise Appearance to Open her Back to Nature Garden
The Duchess looked stunning as she opened the Back to Nature garden she helped design.

The Duchess of Cambridge pleasantly surprised royal fans today as she attended what was a previously embargoed public engagement at the Royal Horticultural Society in Wisley, about an hour southwest of London.

The duchess was there to help celebrate the launch of the latest rendition of the Back to Nature playground that she helped design for the Chelsea Flower Show in May. Her latest creation was designed with the intention of encouraging children to explore and play in nature. The new rendition features trampolines surrounded by trees, two connecting treehouses that a linked with slides, and a living willow pod.

“As a parent, I have learnt just how important it is to foster our children’s development, in all areas, not just physical, as soon as they are born,” the duchess said in her speech at the garden’s opening. “We build the blocks, the foundations, for future success and happiness later in their lives,” she added.

Autumn might have arrived in Britain, but the duchess embraced the day’s sunny weather and dressed for the outdoor theme in a breathtakingly beautiful floral dress.

The light blue midi dress was adorned with pretty pink roses and was created by one of the duchess’s favourite go-to designers, New Zealand born Emilia Wickstead. Kate paired the look with espadrille wedges.

Kate is known to be a keen gardener herself and throughout the day she was spotted interacting with the young guests who were also there to celebrate the new initiative. According to the reports many of the young children in attendance gifted the Duchess with sweets for Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
