Kate Middleton and Prince William were in attendance at the Queen’s Annual Diplomatic Reception in London on Tuesday, one of the rare events that the Duchess of Cambridge gets to wear a tiara and look every bit the princess.

On Tuesday morning the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted in tartan while hosting a Christmas Party on the grounds of Kensington Palace, hours later, she re-emerged – this time, all glammed up.

The evening reception at Buckingham Palace – that also saw Queen Elizabeth, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Prince William in attendance – was in recognition of members of the Diplomatic Corps. Approximately 7,500 U.K. military personnel are currently serving overseas at Christmas.

The Duchess of Cambridge looked every inch the princess in a glittering off-white bespoke Jenny Packham gown embellished with sequined and featuring sheer capped sleeves. She topped off her look with the ultimate accessory: the Lover’s Knot tiara, which was a favorite of Princess Diana.

The yellow ribbon Duchess Kate is wearing is the Royal Family Order, an honor from the Queen that recognises the achievements Kate has made as a working royal.

The Queen looked regal in a white gown with a tiered lace overlay, while the Duchess of Cornwall wore an off-white satin gown with beaded detailing. They both also wore tiaras for the event.
