The Duchess of Cambridge – formally Kate Middleton – was all smiles and giggles as she helped a Cumbrian farmer shear sheep during an action-packed visit to Cumbria with husband Prince William yesterday.
The visit comes after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended Trooping the Colour at the weekend along with the rest of the royal family.
Dressed in a khaki jacket, jeans and boots, the 37-year-old smiled and joked with fans as she and her husband visited the market town of Keswick, in Cumbria.
The purpose of the trip, according to Kensington Palace, was to celebrate the work of local heroes, farmers, volunteers who are supporting the rural community in Cumbria.
At Deepdale Hall Farm The Duke and Duchess meet the Brown family, who have been farming near Lake Ullswater since the 1950s. Farming and agriculture has a special place in Cumbria, where farmers have worked for centuries on some of the most challenging land in the UK.
The royal couple’s Twitter account shared a video of the Duchess helping shear a sheep on Deepdale Farm.

The couple, who have three children – George, five Charlotte, four, and one-year-old Louis – also joined the Cumbria Wildlife Trust on a nature walk.
Their visit is hoped to boost tourism, a major industry in the region.
