How does 51-year-old Jennifer Aniston maintain glowing skin and a slim, toned figure year after year?

She’s been named “the most beautiful woman alive” (People) and “the sexiest woman alive” (Men’s Health). Yes, Jennifer Aniston is known for her natural beauty, incredibly toned figure and glowing skin – but how does the 51-year-old continue to defy age year after year? Here are four ways the star stays in shape and keeps her skin healthy.

Wear less makeup

Aniston is anti-plastic surgery and even recommends limiting the amount of makeup you wear on a daily basis. “Less is more,” she told InStyle, explaining how she began to lose the layers of coverage not long after moving to Hollywood. “I had a boyfriend who always said I looked better without makeup. It took me a while to feel comfortable enough to remove that armour, but I eventually realised he was right.”

Have a balanced approach when it comes to diet

Aniston recommends keeping a clean diet but allowing yourself exceptions. “Everything in moderation,” she told Elle, adding that starting the day with a healthy breakfast is important. After a glass of warm lemon water, Aniston enjoys “a shake or avocado and eggs, which is one of my favourites… I sprinkle a little coconut oil on that. Sometimes, I’ll have puffed millet cereal with a banana or I’ll do oatmeal with an egg white whipped in at the end.”

Stay hydrated and rested

Aniston drinks three to four 650ml bottles of water a day and says water, sleep and sunscreen are her “top three anti-ageing tips”. Generally, the star only wears a tinted moisturiser, unless attending a big Hollywood event.

Exercise in moderation

Aniston’s age-defying wellness routine includes yoga as her go-to form of exercise but also does weight-training exercises at her California home and cardio in the form of spin classes. “I usually do a trifecta. Fifteen minutes on the bike, 15 on the treadmill running, and then 15 on the elliptical. You have to shake it up, you know, muscle confusion,” she says.

Reach for healthy snacks

The actress likes to start a typical day with a cup of hot water and lemon. She’ll then have a cup of coffee with low-fat milk and stevia, according to People. Breakfast tends to be a protein smoothie whipped up with bananas, cherries, blackberries, a greens powder, collagen peptide, cacao powder, chocolate stevia drops and chocolate almond milk.“You can see I like chocolate-flavoured. I don’t like protein taste,” she says.

When she’s on the go, Aniston tries to reach for healthy snacks such as hard-boiled eggs, a cheese stick or a cup of soup. Her favourite lunch is apparently a seared ahi tuna, cucumber and lentil salad.

Know your own body

“As I’ve gotten older there’s just more awareness around what is good for my body internally, externally, physically,” Aniston told Glamour magazine. “It’s all about reading labels and being aware and conscious of what goes in. If our bodies aren’t being taken care of then our work starts to suffer and we’re [not getting the most from] our daily lives.”
