Jacinda Ardern Surprised By Super Secret Santa

Jacinda Ardern Surprised By Super Secret Santa
The NZ Prime Minister is embracing the spirit of Christmas.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern took some time from her official duties to partake in a nationwide Secret Santa. Organised through Twitter, the giant Secret Santa game involved nearly 4000 people from around New Zealand.

Last month, Ardern posted a photo of herself on social media playing Secret Santa as she prepared her chosen gift. When it was revealed that the Prime Minister had still not received a gift from her own Secret Santa, however, a “Super Secret Santa” stepped in.

In a video Ardern opens a present from the anonymous gifter, unwrapping a festive Christmas decoration which she claims is her first of the year. “I’ve put up a tree and it has no decorations on it”, she admits, before saying this decoration would go at the top of her tree.

The parcel also included a letter, which the Prime Minister read aloud. “Hi Jacinda, here is an extra present from another NZ Secret Santa. I am also a ridiculous lover of Christmas, with my tree decorated in early November with trinkets and treasures from all over the world and handmade items. There are only four people who have one of these. Me, my actual, proper Secret Santa recipient for 2017, my mum and now you.”

Ardern’s love of Christmas is no secret. In an Instagram post with an image of Ardern, Hilary Barry and Jack Tame all wearing festive sweaters, the Prime Minister writes: “For anyone who hasn’t picked this up yet, I LOVE Christmas.”
