Is organic the future of food?

Ceres Organics supports organic and biodynamic farmers around the world as part of their commitment to the sustainability of the Earth.

Is organic the future of food?

One of the largest environmental disasters worldwide is the loss of quality soil due to continued exposure to pesticides and fertilisers. Thankfully, organic agriculture increases soil fertility. It can also be regenerative, helping to mitigate climate change by sequestering carbon back into the soil.

Growing the organics industry is something Ceres Organics has been focused on since their inception over 30 years ago, with a clear mission to make organic food available to as many people as they can.

One of the ways they are doing this is by helping farmers make the switch to organics.

Take their partnership with Cabilterra – an almond farming company in Chile. With the help of Ceres Organics, Cabilterra set to convert their farm to be completely certified organic.

To ensure the almond farmers were still receiving a cash flow during the transitional farming phase, Ceres Organics sold ‘In Conversion to Organic Almond Butter’, paying a premium price on the almonds they were supplied. Today, two years on, Cabilterra is now certified organic.

The process wasn’t straightforward, and at times they needed support, but they are now thrilled with the outcome.

Other growers in the area who have witnessed this environmental and financial success have also been inspired to convert to organic.

Ceres Organics are very proud that through their conversion to organic almond butter, they will continue to support Chilean almond farmers and their land.
