Battling cystic fibrosis, Domenic Pace, got to act out his dream of becoming Iron Boy for a day, with the help of Make A Wish Foundation and the original Iron Man - Robert Downey Jr.

Earlier this week, Police Commissioner, Andrew Scipione, was in need of a hero to keep residents of Sydney safe from the evil Ultron and his henchmen.

Appealing to the one and only Iron Boy, aka Domenic Pace, with the help of the Make A Wish Foundation, Domenic was able to come to the rescue.

New South Wales Police and the Make-A-Wish Foundation came together to grant one very deserving boy, an experience he will remember for the rest of his life.

With the blessing of Walt Disney Company Australia, Domenic, a schoolboy from Bringelly in Sydney’s south who suffers from the life-threatening illness Cystic Fibrosis, was enlisted to help battle Iron Man’s nemesis.

The company granted his wish to become the ultimate hero – Iron Boy with the help of his brother who played his sidekick, “War Machine.”

After receiving an urgent call for help from the Commissioner, Domenic and his brother were flown by police helicopter to the police headquarters, where he was transformed into his favourite superhero.

Once the transformation was complete, police ferried the nine-year-old to Clark Island on Sydney Harbour, where he was tasked with recovering ‘kidnapped’ reporter Hope Joy, from the clutches of Ultron.

Once the rescue operation was complete, Dominic and his family were transported to the steps of the Opera House, where he was awarded with a special Commissioner’s Award for Gallantry.

“On behalf of a grateful Police Force and indeed the people of Sydney, I would like to thank Domenic for his tremendous efforts today.

“It can’t be easy dealing with an illness like his and we feel privileged to be able to work with Make-A-Wish Australia to ensure his wish to be a famous superhero came true,” he added.

“Not only has domenic battled villains and saved his city, he’s stared down his illness and won the day.”

Domenic’s mother told Make A Wish that, despite his illness, he was always the first to care for others.

“He always wants to know what’s going on around him in the world and how he could help others,” she said. “I guess the final straw was when he stood up at the dinner table and said ‘I am Iron Boy’, then we pretty much had to go with it from then.”

Iron Boy also received a very special message of support from his own hero – Iron Man.
