International holidays back on the cards as Qantas sells tickets to the U.K, America and Singapore… So where are you off to?

With Australia on track to reach National Cabinet's 80 per cent vaccination target by December, Qantas has released tickets to international destinations. With many selling out in hours.

International holidays back on the cards as Qantas sells tickets to the U.K, America and Singapore… So where are you off to?

The airline released it’s first international flight schedule in almost two years. Departures for London, Los Angeles, Singapore and Vancouver are set from 18 December, from Sydney and Melbourne.

Flights to Tokyo and Fiji will commence from 19 December.

There is also the assumption that the Transtasman bubble could be restarted, reports The Australian, with airfares published for New Zealand.

The flights still carry a disclaimer saying they are “subject to government and regulatory approval”.

Flights to destinations with high vaccine rates were expected to resume from mid-December – countries likely to be included were Singapore, the United States, Japan, United Kingdom and Canada.

Qantas notes travel uptake will “hinge largely on government decisions on alternative requirements to mandatory hotel isolation for fully vaccinated travellers”.

All passengers would have to be fully vaccinated said airline boss CEO Alan Joyce. Vaccination is expected to be part of their term and service for international travellers come the restart.

A federal government ban on Australians leaving the country without an exemption was introduced in March 2020 and still remains in place. This is expected to expire on December 17, if not removed earlier.

Flights to Hong Kong will restart in February and flights to countries with lower vaccine rates will be pushed out to April 2022 – including to destinations such as Bali, Jakarta, Manila and Johannesburg.

So the question is, where will you be going in 2022?
