The government revealed yesterday the 56-year-old woman tested positive for the virus – the first community case since November.
The government has now revealed the 30 businesses (full list here) she travelled to over nine days when she was unaware of having the virus.
Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins revealed this morning, the woman’s husband and hairdresser have both returned negative test results.
“Her husband would without doubt be her closest contact – that coming back negative is a good sign and so we’ll know more as the day unfolds as to what the overall risk of this case is,” said Hipkins.
Six people have been identified as close contacts of the woman, all of whom are isolating while they await test results.
Hipkins said it could be up to 48 hours before there is enough information to decide on changing alert levels.
When asked about extending the managed isolation or at-home isolation periods, Hipkins said it has been under discussion since before Christmas.
“The advice at that time was that wouldn’t be justified – now obviously we keep that under review.”
Hipkins said if the virus showed to have a longer incubation period, then changes at MIQ would be looked at.
