High fashion and sustainability collide on the runway
Stella McCartney makes an ethical statement at Paris Fashion Week

Brit designer Stella McCartney is no neophyte where ethical fashion is concerned. Determined to prove that barriers between high fashion and ethical fashion shouldn’t exist, sustainability was at the heart of McCartney’s new collection. The invitations, Stella McCartney-embossed eco-friendly, 100 per-cent recycled “trashion” bags, were a not-so-subtle nod to the ongoing debate about fashion industry’s environmental footprint. McCartney has long been a proponent of animal-friendly faux leather. While the textile has, up until now, been reserved for accessories – bags and shoes – her recent showing at Paris Fashion Week saw what McCartney calls ‘Skin-Free Skin’ fashioned into a number of garments including trousers and tops.

Discover some of the key looks from the Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2018 collection in the gallery below.
