The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have launched a joint Instagram account, sparking excitement among their legion of fans awaiting the impending announcement of the birth of baby Sussex.

The Duke and Duchess, who are creating a new team of aides based at Buckingham Palace, have formally separated from the Cambridges on social media, promising to publish their “important announcements” directly to fans, the Telegraph reports.

It comes as the Duke and Duchess, who are expecting a baby this month, split their household office from that of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Kensington Palace’s Twitter account revealed the launch of the social media account on Thursday. “Welcome to Instagram, SussexRoyal! Follow for more on the work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” it posted. The Instagram account already has over 1 million followers.

Take a look at their first post, an image of a logo featuring the intertwined letters H and M, topped with a crown, on a deep blue background followed by a series of images of the couple:

“Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal,” Harry and Meghan write.

A further nine pictures of them were shared, showing the Duke and Duchess on official visits around the world and of causes important to them.

The account has been warmly welcomed by devoted fans of the Duchess, who have long complained that her social media “voice” has been stifled by palace life, and immediately followed by celebrities.
