Is This A New Cure For Hangovers?
Do you suffer from nasty hangovers? It could be time to swap that greasy breakfast for a Japanese tree extract added to a popsicle.

It may be a long way to go for a cure but a popular ice-block available in South Korea claims to be the first to relieve a hangover. The Gyeondyo-bar is a grapefruit-flavoured iced confection with traces of oriental raisin tree fruit juice, which is a traditional cure for hangovers.

Hovenia dulcis (more commonly known as the Japanese raisin tree) is a fruit tree of the Rhamnaceae family. Its ripe fruits are edible raw or cooked and, when dried, they look just like raisins.

H. dulcis is native to Japan, China, North Korea and South Korea, and is also found growing naturally in the forests of Thailand and North Vietnam. A 2017 study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology found that people who ingested an extract of H. dulcis experienced less headache, dizziness, nausea and weakness in their hangover than those who did not take the extract.
