‘Great Circle’ novel to be adapted into a TV series: everything we know
Maggie Shipstead's bestselling novel will be made into a TV series.

Great Circle, the sweeping epic written by Maggie Shipstead, will be heading to the small screen. In July 2021, Deadline revealed that production company Picturestart had won the rights to the book and will be developing it into a TV series.

Great Circle, which made the 2021 Booker Prize shortlist, follows the lives of two women, Marian, a female pilot from the mid 20th century and Hadley, an actress who has been cast as Marian in a modern-day biopic.

It is still early days in the production for the Great Circle TV series, so not much is known about casting or the team involved. We do know that Erik Feig, who heads up Picturestart, will be developing the series and is currently looking for a screenwriter to adapt the book.

Shipstead will be on board as executive producer for the Great Circle TV series. Taking to Instagram, the author said she is “thrilled” to see her novel making its way to the screen.

“Anything in development for any kind of screen has a long and hazardous journey ahead of it, but I couldn’t be more thrilled that Great Circle is in the hands of the brilliant folks at @picturestart, who were so passionate and insightful in their reading of the book and have such a compelling vision for its adaptation.”
