Gin Kick

By Todd Fletcher

This Gin Kick cocktail recipe is refreshing and tasty for a hot summer's day, by Todd Fletcher on MiNDFOOD.

Pomegranate juice is making a breakthrough in the cocktail scene. Although its colour is that of rusty water, its flavour is unique and somewhat bitter.

It compliments botanical spirits, such as gin, very well. Pomegranate juice also contains powerful antioxidants. It has almost three times as many antioxidants as red wine, green tea, cranberry or orange juice.

30ml gin

30ml Cointreau

90ml pomegranate Juice

Chill a large Martini glass. Add each ingredient in order.

Tips:

1 The ingredients may be shaken then strained into the glass using a lot of ice and a cocktail strainer. This method could be used to make to cocktail colder and therefore more refreshing.

2 More pomegranate juice could be added to taste.

3 A large white wine glass would also be quite a visually appealing glass to serve this cocktail in.

4 A fine gin with distinctive botanicals is preferred for this cocktail.
