George Clooney rumoured to be engaged
Could 36-year-old British human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin, finally make an honest man of celebrity heartthrob George Clooney?

Hollywood’s most ‘celebrated bachelor’ could be off the market, much to the disappointment of diehard Clooney fans the world over.

But just who is the exotic beauty that may have convinced the 52-year-old actor to finally settle down again?

Amal Alamuddin, a Beirut-born barrister who is fluent in French and Arabic and has represented the liked of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange as well as former Ukranian prime minster Yulia Tymoshenko.

A graduate of New York University’s School of Law, Alamuddin specialises in human rights and international law and has an impressive CV – having served as counsel to a UN-led inquiry into counter-terrorism and the use of drones, as well as an advisor to former UN secretary Kofi Anan and the Arab League.

Clooney has similarly campaigned for liberal causes in his native US and for human rights issues abroad – more notably in Darfur.

While the star’s agent, Stan Rosenfield, declined to comment on the reports, saying he did not comment on personal matters, the couple were reportedly displaying the engagement ring to Clooney’s business partner Rande Gerber and his wife, model Cindy Crawford, at dinner in Malibu’s famous Nobu restaurant just this weekend.

Actor Edward Norton also dropped by during the dinner and was seen giving the couple congratulatory hugs and kisses, adding further fuel to the rumour fire.

Star of Ocean’s Eleven and The Descendants, the Oscar-winning actor was formerly dating US wrestle Stacy Kiebler, their relationship ended in July last year. Soon after eh was spotted on safari in Tanzania with Alamuddin.

After his four-year-marriage to actress Talia Balsam ended in 1993, clooney famously declared he would never marry again, adding that he wasn’t very good at it.

He has so far kept his word through a string of relationships with various actresses, models and celebrities. But could Alamuddin have helped Clooney to have a change of heart? Only time will tell!
