Final Details of Royal Wedding Revealed

With the royal wedding just weeks away, the final details surrounding the big day have been revealed. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will ride to St George’s Chapel in the Queen’s historic Ascot Landau carriage, which was first built for Queen Victoria in 1883.

Four large Windsor Grey horses called Milford Haven, Storm, Plymouth and Tyrone will pull the carriage, with two more calledSir Basil and Londonderry accompanying it. The Windsor Grey breed has drawn members of the British royal family since Queen Victoria’s reign.

Senior Coachman to the Queen, Philip Barnard-Brown, describes Milford Haven, whom he will ride in the procession as a “special horse”, The Daily Mail reports. “He normally has a lead position because he’s a very quiet horse and you’ll naturally try and put your quietest horses in the lead”, he explains.

After the ceremony, the horses will pull the carriage to Windsor Castle, passing Castle Hill, High Street, Sheet Street, Kings Road, Albert Road and Long Walk on the way. The royal couple are thought to have limited guest numbers from 800 to 600 in order to rearrange the pews and provide people with a better view.

The reception at St George’s Hall will be followed by a private evening reception of just 200 close friends and family members, hosted by Prince Charles. The rest of the royal family will use state cars including three Rolls-Royces, two Bentleys and three Daimlers to move between venues.
