Max Factor make-up artist Liz Kelsh shares her tricks for a flawless festive season look.

Smokey eye or dramatic lip colour? Or will you break all the beauty rules and pair the two together this festive season? We sat down with Max Factor make-up artist Liz Kelsh and found out everything you need to know about perfecting your beauty look once the silly season rolls around.

What is your favourite look for the festive season?
A statement lip is a winning look for the festive season, teamed with fresh dewy skin and lashings of mascara.

What are your tips for perfecting your base for summer?
In summer, less is more when it comes to skin, however, you still want a flawless look so I opt for using buildable foundations, applying a sheer cover all over and only building cover where I really need it. One of my favourite buildable foundations is Max Factor Miracle Touch foundation.

How do you get your make-up to stay put when you have a long night ahead of you?
When you want your make to last you can’t go past long wear makeup, I love long-wear eyeshadows, super easy to blend and once they set they last all night.

Bold eyes or bold lips this festive season?
If you’re opting for a statement lip this holiday season it good to keep the eyes simple; try curling your lashes to open up the eyes and apply lots of False Lash Effect mascara.

Statement eyes are another winner for the festive season; I like to use long-wear eyeliner like Liquid Line Effect on the waterline so it doesn’t travel. A nude matte lip is a perfect partner for smokey eyes. A little touch of glitter on the eyes can look great for the festive season but only if everything else is very understated.

What runway-inspired trends are you embracing this season?
Eyeliner was big yet again on the catwalk, all of which transfer easily into an everyday look. If you’re new to liquid liner try tight lining which hugs close to the lashes for some smoke and mirror definition.
