The Ministry of Health has confirmed there are eight new cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 20.

There are four new cases in Auckland, one in Christchurch, two in Waikato and one in Invercargill.

All of the new cases are related to overseas travel.

Dr Bloomfield also said police had conducted compliance checks on travellers to make sure they are undergoing self-isolation.
