Sarah, Duchess of York has expressed gratitude and pride following the wedding of her daughter Princess Beatrice.

The former wife of Prince Andrew took to Instagram to thank well-wishers in the wake of her eldest child’s big day, and said she had “never been more proud” than when her two daughters were married.

“Thank you to all the very special and kind people that took the time and trouble to send amazingly caring and supportive messages,” she said.

“Never has a mother been more proud than the wedding of Eugenie and Jack, and again with my Beatrice’s loving wedding to Dear Edo. I am so lucky with my girls, and now the best sons-in-law.”

Beatrice married property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a small ceremony at The Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor on Friday.

The Princess’ parents did not appear in any of the official photos that have been released from the wedding.

It comes as Prince Andrew keeps a low profile amid a swirl of controversy over his former friendship with Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of Jeffrey Epstein who has been arrested over sex trafficking offences.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed, however, that Princess Beatrice was “walked down the aisle by her father”.
