An emotional deleted scene from Marvel's 'Avengers: Endgame' has left fans wondering why it wasn't included in the film.

While Avengers: Endgame may be the highest-grossing film of all time, some fans are not happy after learning a heartbreaking moment was left out of the final edit, with Marvel releasing several deleted scenes.

The action movie, which toppled Avatar to be crowned the biggest moneymaker of all time, marked the end of an era as the final chapter in the Avengers franchise. As the digital release of the film nears, the makers of the box office hit have drummed up more hype by giving fans a taste of what could have been.

One recently released deleted scene, in particular, has captured the attention of fans, leaving many an emotional wreck. If you haven’t watched the film – beware of spoilers.

The film’s final fight scene culminates in the loss of a beloved Avenger. Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), sacrifices himself, using the power of all of the infinity stones to defeat Thanos and save the world.

It’s a heartbreaking moment, which was extended in a deleted scene that has recently been shared online.

USA Today Life posted the clip which they describe as a “heroic must-see” moment.

The one minute and 42 second scene, shows all of the Avengers dropping down onto one knee to commemorate Tony’s selfless act.

And while it certainly is a powerful moment, directors Anthony and Joe Russo claim they didn’t include it as it didn’t work with the funeral scene at the end of the movie.

Speaking to USA Today, they said: “It’s a beautiful scene with moving performances, but we filmed it prior to Tony Stark’s funeral. The funeral scene ultimately became a more resonant and emotional reflection on Tony’s death for us.”
