Copenhagen restaurant serves up supermarket scraps
A Copenhagen restaurant is serving up food made from grocery store scraps.

Copenhagen’s Rub & Stub has scored donations from two different grocery chains and is looking for more contributors, or ‘freegans’ as they are referred to in Denmark.

“Denmark is already home to an active community of ‘freegans,’ people who eat discarded edible food to reduce waste,” reported the AFP.

Using ingredients that are disposed of or close to their expiry date, the menu at Rub & Stub rotates almost daily, with a reasonable price point.

Not only passionate about reducing waste and the contribution to landfill, Rub & Stub are also dedicated to giving back to the community. Run solely by volunteers, all profits are donated to charities based in Sierra Leone. Considering the produce is virtually free of charge and there are no labour costs, we’re tipping the charitable donations to be substantial.
