CONFIRMED: Harry and Meghan Will Spend Christmas in the U.S

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed they won't spend Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham

A Buckingham Palace aid today announced the couple and baby Archie will spend Christmas in America with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland. 

The couple has the ‘support of the Queen’. 

It is not the first time members of the Royal family have spent Christmas away from Sandringham. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have spent Christmas with Kate’s parents in the past. Harry also skipped Christmas at Sandringham in 2012. when he was serving in Afghanistan. 

Prince Harry and his wife announced they would be taking a six-week break from royal duties starting next week. Insiders expect the couple to travel to the US for Thanksgiving, on November 28.

Official Announcement: 

‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month.

‘Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland.

‘This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.’
