As we currently battle with wild weather, we are reminded of the threat of climate change that is facing the world.

One of the challenges of climate change is that the impact it has on the environment, while severe, can happen gradually. By the time most of Western civilisation begins to feel the full effects of this threat, the forces of climate change will have been at work for decades, and arguably, it will be too late.

Thankfully, NASA is using their satellites to track environmental changes, helping the public stay informed about the full scale of transformations that are taking place. Viewed over the span of decades, the slight month-to-month variations are now presented as a devastating portrait.

In addition to these incremental changes, NASA has also documented freak weather events like flash floods. However, it is important to note that these too are often the result of weather patterns that have morphed over decades.
