When it comes to runway shows, Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld is never one to opt for an understated approach. This season was no exception to the rule. For Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2019 showing, Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais in Paris into a sprawling white sand beach complete with an azure ocean lapping at models’ feet and an on-duty lifeguard. 

The beach is no place for Chanel ballet flats, so model’s strolled barefoot down the beach clutching their shoes and handbags. Of course, no trip to a Chanel beach would be complete without the most covetable beachwear imaginable – swimsuits, oversized straw hats, and Chanel logo belts.
