Collaborating with IMDb, Blanchett has shared her ‘Films of Hope’ watchlist, with a focus on films that explore human resistance, isolation, and hope.
In a personal video shared on IMDb, Blanchett speaks of the opportunity to reconnect with others and raises awareness for those struggling the most during the pandemic.
“In the face of a pandemic like this…just how vital it is to live with hope and how difficult it is to live with uncertainty,” she says.
“COVID-19 has affected all of us and we have seen what it has done in countries with strong and robust health care systems but now we’re seeing the spread to countries with weaker systems and it’s putting the lives of millions at risk,” she says.
‘There are communities around the world right now who are incredibly vulnerable,” says Blanchett. “I do think that stories are a very powerful way to embrace the realisation that when looking after the world’s most vulnerable, we are in fact looking after ourselves.
