Prince Louis, the youngest son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, has been christened in a private ceremony in London.

Prince Louis may have slept through his grand entrance at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, where he was baptised on July 9, but he looked adorable snoozing away in his mum’s arms.

The royal baby slept through his entire, much-anticipated entrance for the royal christening on Monday. He was even napping peacefully in the arms of his mother, Kate Middleton, when she greeted Archbishop Justin Welby, who led the ceremony. When the archbishop pointed out the sleeping prince, the Duchess responded, “Let’s hope he stays like this,” reports the BBC.

Guests included newlyweds the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall as well as the Middleton family.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, however, did not attend, with the decision made “some time ago” and not on health grounds, Buckingham Palace said.

The Prince wore the handmade replica of the Royal Christening Robe, made by Angela Kelly, Dressmaker to The Queen. His mum honoured the occasion by wearing an Alexander McQueen dress, the same designer she wore for her older children’s christenings and her own wedding.

Meghan Markle, attending her first royal christening, wore an olive green Ralph Lauren outfit and a Stephen Jones hat, as reported by the BBC.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked Nicholas van Cutsem, Guy Pelly, Harry Aubrey-Fletcher, The Lady Laura Meade, Robert Carter and Lucy Middleton to be godparents to Prince Louis, all of whom are friends or family of the royal couple.

Monday’s ceremony marked the first time the Duchess, her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and her husband, Prince William, have made a public appearance as a family of five.
