British Vogue celebrates its centenary in style
Meet Bo GIlbert, the 100-year-old gracing the pages of Vogue's centenary issue.

An ad that will appear in British Vogue’s 100th issue, by Department Store giants Harvey Nicholswill star a rather fitting model – 100-year-old Bo Gilbert.

The department store chain selected Bo Gilbert, born in 1916, to feature in their ad, in a bid to highlight and challenge the ageist mentality within the fashion industry.

The move is a first for Vogue, who will run the ad as part of their special collectors edition – on stands in June.

“Vogue’s 100th anniversary seemed like such an important moment, so we wanted to celebrate it by doing something symbolic,” Ben Tollett, executive creative director at Harvey Nichols’ ad agency adam&eveDDB, told The Guardian.

“We’re really proud to be involved in a project which proves the older generation can be fearlessly stylish too. Ageism is so last century.”

Bo is dressed in Dries van Noten, Victoria Beckham and Celine and looks simply stunning.

The ad was shot by Phil Poynter, who founded Dazed and Confused with Jefferson Hack and Rankin.
