Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex – formerly Meghan Markle – were joined by Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z in London’s Leicester Square on Sunday for the premiere of The Lion King.
Duchess Meghan has made several public appearances since the birth of baby Archie, including at the women’s final at Wimbledon at the weekend. She is technically still on maternity leave.
Despite this, the Duchess reportedly chose to attend the British premiere. Royal mothers can apparently pick and choose the public appearances they make during their maternity leave.
Arriving at the glitzy premiere alongside her husband, Duchess Meghan looked absolutely stunning on the red (or orangey yellow) carpet. She wore a black Jason Wu dress with long sheer sleeves.
While Meghan has walked plenty of red carpets as an actress, Sunday marked her first film premiere as a royal.
She and Harry hugged and shared a conversation with Beyoncé, who wore a custom gold pleated gown with a thigh-high slit by Cong Tri, and her husband JAY-Z at the premiere.
The premiere was held in “support of the conservation and communities work of His Royal Highness through The Royal Foundation”, Buckingham Palace said.
The royal couple also had the chance to chat with representatives from organisations doing ground-breaking work for conservation and the environment.
Disney has announced its global conservation campaign Protect the Pride to mark the movie’s release.
