Two documentaries by Oprah Winfrey, and a reboot of her Book Club series are among the several new shows announced for Apple’s new streaming service Apple TV+.

Apple unveiled a host of new subscription services at a star-studded event in Cupertino, California, on Monday morning (local time).

Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carrell, Kumail Nanjiani, and Big Bird were on hand to promote new creative projects that will be released through Apple’s new subscription television service, Apple TV+.

The service will include original programming that chief executive Tim Cook described as “great storytelling”.

And you get an AppleTV+! And you get an AppleTV+! And you get an Apple TV+! Cook, however, saved the biggest storyteller for last: Oprah Winfrey.

Winfrey appeared on stage to cap off Apple’s press event telling the crowd “there’s never been a moment like this one.”

“We all crave connection,” she said. “We search for common ground.”

Winfrey’s content deal with Apple includes documentaries and a rebooted book club – but not a regular talk show.

Winfrey described the two documentaries she’d be working on for Apple TV+. First, there’s Toxic Labor, looking at the effects of sexual harassment in the workplace. There’s also an untitled, multi-part documentary about mental health.

Winfrey said that with her Apple content, “I want to reach that sweet spot where insight and perspective, truth and tolerance, actually intersect.” And she’s excited to use their platform to get her message out to an enormous audience: “They’re in a billion pockets, y’all. A billion pockets.”

According to Variety, Steven Spielberg also shared the stage with Cook to announce the return of his fantasy, horror, and science fiction television anthology series, last seen on screens in the late 80s.

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon also appeared on stage to introduced their Apple TV+ series The Morning Show – a fun look into the wild world of morning news, CNN reports.
