Oscar winner, Angelina Jolie, is currently in talks to star in her first Marvel superhero movie.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has landed one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, it has been revealed, after reports suggested Angelina Jolie is closing a deal to star in a superhero movie based on The Eternals, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jolie has chosen the Marvel project based on the Jack Kirby-created title about superpowered and near-immortal beings known as Eternals, a powerful race of cosmic beings who have existed in our solar system for millions of years. While most Eternals look perfectly human on the outside, their advanced biology gives them incredible strength, long lives and powers that set them far above mortal men.
In recent years, Jolie has spent quite a bit of time behind the camera, directing serious dramas including Unbroken and First They Killed My Father, but it appears she’s having a lite acting renaissance.
A Marvel movie is, in a way, a return to form for Jolie, who’s already a blockbuster member of the Disney family thanks to her starring role in Maleficent. She’s also a seasoned action star, having led franchises like Tomb Raider and stand-alones like Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Salt.
While this will be Jolie’s first superhero movie, it is not her first comic book movie— she starred in the 2007 adaptation of Mark Millar’s Wanted.
