Accidentally Vegan

Accidentally Vegan
What products have you been eating that are actually vegan?

With vegan diets rapidly growing, it is now commonplace to find a large variety of dairy and meat substitutes at your local supermarket.

If you still eat meat and dairy, however, there are also a ton of snack foods, cereals, breads and more that are “accidentally vegan” – meaning people might not know they are vegan, they aren’t branded as vegan or trying to fit into the vegan food group.

Here are just a few accidentally vegan items found in Australia and New Zealand supermarkets. Have you been eating any of them?

  • Oreos
  • Crumpets
  • Farrah’s Wraps
  • Bagels
  • Vegemite and Marmite
  • Doritos (certain flavours only)
  • Ploughman’s bread range
  • Kellog’s Coco Pops, Nutrigrain, Cornflakes, Rice Bubbles, Sultana Bran
  • Dried pasta (check it doesn’t contain egg – most supermarket pastas don’t)
  • Puff pastry
  • Just Hummus dip range
  • Whittaker’s Ghana Peppermint
  • Proper Crisps
