Weta Workshop Unleashed promises visitors a “journey through the creative process” of their award-winning film sets and life-like fantasy characters.
Showcasing the worlds of horror, sci-fi and fantasy, visitors will get an up-close look at resident creatures, a galactic robot and a hyper-realistic giant, from the talented effects team behind The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, Blade Runner 2049 and Mulan.
The 1.5hr tour will take visitors inside a fictitious workshop inspired by the real Weta Workshop in Wellington, full of amazing practical effects.
“We are excited to be working on an Auckland-based attraction that will showcase our capabilities to even more New Zealanders and, in coming years, to international tourists,” says Weta Workshop’s Head of Tourism, Jake Downing.
It’s Weta Workshop’s first major exhibition since their record-breaking Gallipoli: The scale of our war in 2015, which won them an award for outstanding themed entertainments and design projects.
