13-year-old Philadelphia girl is Baseball’s newest star
Baseball's newest star, Mo'ne Davis, is making waves around Philadelphia with her explosive pitching technique.

13-year-old Davis and her 113 kilometre per hour fastball have caught the attention of many big name sports stars, including Mike Trout from the Los Angeles Angels and the NBA’s Kevin Durant.

Last week Davis became the first ever female in Little League Baseball (LLB) history to pitch a shutout game (striking out the opposing team without conceding a run). Such impressive figures come from more than just her rocket fire pace, as Davis too demonstrates an understanding of the game beyond her years. “I know where kids don’t like it… Some people don’t like it low and outside, so I throw it low and outside. Some people swing at curveballs, some people swing at first pitch, so I know when to throw the right pitch at the right time,” she stated in an interview with EPSN.

Such phenomenal figures are pulling record viewing numbers for the LLB, with the victory of Davis’ Taney Dragons over Pearland last week drawing in a 1.5 rating nationally – 71% higher than the equivalent game from the previous year. Davis will again be trying to pitch her way into the record books as her team faces Las Vegas this Wednesday.
