Zambesi delivers another standout collection informed by the sea that surrounds us.

Zambesi has always been an integral part of New Zealand Fashion Week and the NZ fashion scene.

The iconic label has been delivering their signature directional silhouettes and fluid tailoring for well over 40 years, supporting NZFW with standout shows almost every year since its 2001 launch.

Yet somehow, the team behind the brand continually come up with the coolest concepts for their shows, staying true to their aesthetic and their dedicated ‘Zamfam,’ a loyal community of models, muses and dedicated fans.

As someone that has attended NZFW for over two decades, some of my most enduring and standout memories of the annual event involve the brand founded by Elisabeth and Neville Findlay.

From a grungy Pluto show at the St James, to a boat stacking storage venue in Westhaven, guests can always expect the unexpected, as well as a slightly rebellious go-our-own-way energy.

This year that approach held true as the brand held their show on a wharf around Auckland’s waterfront, conceived by Zambesi’s Marissa Findlay.

The location was a key connection to the Spring/Summer collection. Called ‘Song to the Siren’ it is inspired by the marine environments, the exploration of sailors and sirens, the wildness of kelp, life beneath the surface and the elemental meeting of ocean and land.

Colours and textures pull from these ideas, with a fresh aquamarine and glimmering chartreuse a convincing proposition for summer. As always for the label, exceptional fabrics and the interesting manipulation of them are central to the collection.

Selected pieces from the range are available now.
