Your Skin’s New Best Friend: Trilogy’s Vitamin C Trio

Luminous, healthy skin goes hand in hand with summer. Thanks to Trilogy’s versatile trio of vitamin-C based skincare, a glowing, youthful complexion could be yours in just a couple of weeks.

A life well lived can begin to show on your skin. As the end of the year looms and the festive season rolls around, once-radiant skin can become lacklustre and in need of a pick-me-up. While we’re undoubtedly spoilt for choice these days as far as skincare offerings are concerned, it goes without saying that not all skincare ingredients are created equal. Fortunately, for those in search of eternally luminous and healthy skin, there is a reason why vitamin C has become one of the most talked-about and sought-after skincare ingredients out there.

“Recommended by dermatologists, skincare experts, make-up artists and celebrities, the multifunctional complexion brightener is one of the most-searched-for skincare ingredients on the internet,” says Kerry De Villiers, Product Research and Compliance Manager for Trilogy. But vitamin C is much more than just the beauty buzzword of the moment. As De Villiers explains, the cult active ingredient not only boosts skin luminosity, it also stimulates collagen production, which helps to firm and smooth skin while its powerful antioxidant properties protect skin from further damage. “It’s a superstar ingredient and its popularity is at an all-time high for one reason – it works!” De Villiers says.

‘C’ the Difference
While certain skincare ingredients aren’t suitable for all skin types and might benefit some age groups more than others, vitamin C’s incredible versatility is another reason why it has become such a hero ingredient in the skincare world. Although it’s touted as a powerhouse for skin rejuvenation by anti-ageing experts right around the globe, De Villiers goes on to explain that women of all ages will reap the benefits of the potent active. “Vitamin C doesn’t discriminate on age. Women of all ages will benefit from using vitamin C in their skincare routines regardless of skin type and concerns,” she explains.

But it’s not just all ages it’s suitable for, it’s skin types too. While De Villiers explains that a high percentage of active vitamin C can irritate the skin of those with sensitive or reactive skin, Trilogy Vitamin C Booster Treatment is formulated with six per cent active vitamin C. “It’s suitable for even those with sensitive skin types.” Although most skincare ingredients and products tend to target one skin concern, vitamin C is unique in the way it’s able to combat various skin issues.

“Topically used vitamin C is an essential ingredient to promote great, healthy-looking skin. It acts as a powerful antioxidant and is a critical factor for collagen synthesis – the skin’s support protein that keeps it looking younger, firmer and healthier,” De Villiers explains. But it doesn’t just create youthful complexions – with daily use vitamin C provides skin with various visible benefits; in fact, there’s not a lot it can’t do. “Improving uneven skin tone, age spots and pigmentation, boosting the luminosity of the skin, while working synergistically to help protect the skin from environmental damage, and supporting the skin’s natural vitality” are just some of the benefits according to De Villiers.

Trilogy

Meet the Family
For those in need of a complexion pick-me-up, Trilogy Vitamin C Booster Treatment is the ideal addition to your skincare routine. “We’ve known about the benefits of vitamin C for many years but have been challenged with finding an effective way to capture its potency and effectiveness in a natural skincare formulation,” explains De Villiers. The Vitamin C Booster Treatment – which recently won Best New Product Formulation 2019 from the NZ Society of Chemists – utilises a one-of-a-kind dispensing mechanism that is able to maintain the freshness and potency of vitamin C so it delivers maximum benefits to skin. Once activated, the vitamin C powder is blended with a hydrating hyaluronic acid-based serum. “For optimum performance, we recommend using 3-4 drops to a clean face, neck and décolletage morning and night for two weeks,” advises De Villiers.

“After that, the vitamin C will not be active any more, but for the next two weeks the skin will still be rewarded with all the great benefits from the ultra-hydrating hyaluronic acid serum enriched with daisy extract, rosehip and mandarin oil.” To enhance your results from the Booster Treatment, the Trilogy Vitamin C family also includes a lightweight, antioxidant-packed moisturiser and recently released Vitamin C Energising Mist Toner – perfect for revitalising tired, dull skin over the hectic summer months.

Trilogy Vitamin C Booster Treatment ($44.99), Trilogy Vitamin C Energising Mist Toner ($30.99), and Trilogy Vitamin C Moisturising Lotion ($52.99) are available from Life Pharmacy, Unichem, Farmers, natural beauty retailers and online at trilogyproducts.co.nz

Ruby’s Resort 2019 Collection is Here

Memories of sun-soaked days spent in the Coromandel serve as the inspiration behind Ruby’s resort collection, Local Honey.

Creative director Deanna Didovich has brought her favourite season to life with an uplifting colour palette and wearable silhouettes that will be at home on the beach and beyond.

It’s the colourful Bettina print that’s at the heart of the collection and is sure to turn heads this summer. The breathtaking soft watercolour florals feature on a handful of covetable designs including the must-have Bettina Cut-Out dress.

Local Honey also sees the launch of Ruby’s first swimwear collection.  A scoop neck one-piece, a bandeau and asymmetrical crop, and high-waisted bottoms, all in the colourful Bettina floral. The pieces not only look great but they’re better for the planet as they have been created from Econyl – a regenerated nylon made from recycled fishing nets and nylon waste.

Within the wider collection, Ruby has ensured that 20 per cent of the fabrics are completely traceable.

Local Honey is available in-store and online from 15 November.
