September 27 is World Tourism Day, an annual event that seeks to promote the importance of tourism and its cultural, economic, political and social value. It also aims to address issues of sustainability, environmentalism and responsible travelling.
The brainchild of the United Nation’s World Tourism Organisation, World Tourism Day was first recognised in 1980. As always, the UNWTO encourages countries around the world to celebrate their unique people, landscapes and history.
