As the world reels from the news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, high profile figures are paying tribute to the late Monarch.
King Charles III issued a statement in the wake of his mother’s death, as the Royal Family comes to terms with the loss of a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The King described “a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family”.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are yet to release their own official statement, instead sharing the announcement of the Queen’s death on their social media channels.

UK Prime Minister Liz Truss, who was only sworn in by the Queen this week, addressed the news with a statement outside 10 Downing Street, in which she said the Queen’s death is “a huge shock to the nation and to the world”.
Meanwhile, leaders from around the world are sharing their condolences. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern called the Queen “extraordinary”.
“Her commitment to her role and to all of us has been without question and has been unwavering,” she said.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, “Australian hearts go out to the people of the United Kingdom who mourn today, knowing they will feel they have lost part of what makes their nation whole.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the Queen’s service “will forever remain an important part of our country’s history”.

The current US president, and those who met with the Queen in years gone by, have also shared their condolences.
President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden described the Queen as “a steadying presence and a source of comfort and pride for generations of Britons”.

Donald Trump and Melania Trump said the Queen’s reign “left a tremendous legacy of peace and prosperity for Great Britain”, while Barack and Michelle Obama said they were “struck by her warmth, the way she put people at ease, and how she brought her considerable humour and charm to moments of great pomp and circumstance”.
