Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference. Here at the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, a woman sits quietly every week and helps the dogs in the shelter to feel like they are part of someone’s family.
The woman, from the North Shore in Pittsburgh, was snapped by a fellow shelter volunteer after he was astounded at her incredible levels of kindness.
Reading ‘The Pup and the Biscuit’, the woman sits every week and reads to her beloved shelter dogs – a process that is proven to provide comfort to animals in distress because of the soothing nature of the soft voice.
This image, and the story it tells, acts as a reminder that there are ways beyond adoption, that can allow people to support animals in need.
