Start your weekend off right with the flavour of summer in a glass.
To celebrate New Zealand’s National Rose Month in February, Wine of the Week starts with this delicious wine from Akarua.
The Akarua Rua Pinot Rose 2015 is crisp and fresh with aromas of watermelon, vanilla and a palate of strawberries and cream. Hints of passionfruit and watermelon leave you with a bright, long finish. At the Royal Easter Show Wine Awards 2016, this Rose achieved GOLD and has gained recognition in the national and international markets.
Hailing from Central Otago, where some of New Zealand’s best Pinot Noirs are produced, the modern winery is situated in Bannockburn. Vines at Akarua were first planted in 1996 and a small vintage produced in 1999 under the reins of the Skeggs family where they are currently under second generation family leadership.
This wine is perfect when served slightly chilled and accompanying any form of delicious, summery seafood or light asian-style entrées.
