The collection of sleek basics and underwear that has become a global phenomenon will be available to shop in Aotearoa at the soon-to-open Faradays department store on Auckland’s Queen Street.
SKIMS New Zealand arrival forms the first designer announcement for the luxury multi-level development, set to open in August this year.
SKIMS offers a core range of minimalist, figure-moulding underwear in technically-advanced fabrications, but has also extended into other areas including cosy loungewear, swimwear and activewear.
Faradays founders say the brand, which offers items from NZ$35, will be one of the more affordable lines among more than 150 other names included in the new 3-level development in Auckland’s CBD. The space will retail a selection of SKIMS’ most-loved designs in inclusive sizing.
Hot-ticket collaboration collection NikeSKIMS will also be available at Faradays in spring 2026.
SKIMS was first founded in 2019 by US reality superstar Kardashian and business entrepreneurs Jens and Emma Grede. In the years since, it has gone on to a multi-billion dollar valuation following global expansion.
SKIMS best-known products are bras, underwear and bodysuits in a soft-to-the-touch stretch fabric in a range of nude tones and seasonal colours.
To cement its relevance among the quickly evolving fashion conversation, the brand regularly creates campaigns with athletes and trending pop culture stars, and has also undertaken a number of well-received brand collaborations, such as the aforementioned Nike link-up, as well as those with Fendi, Swarovski and Dolce & Gabbana.
Excitingly, there are plenty more revelations to come before Faradays opens the doors to its 3-level store within the old Milne & Choyce building in the city’s CBD.
SKIMS will sit among more than 150 other “exceptionally strong” yet-to-be announced brands in the sleek new development currently under construction.
Faradays has revealed the store’s basement will be home to activewear, denim, sneakers, coffee-table books and gifting, alongside dedicated treatment rooms offering beauty and wellness experiences. The ground floor will bring together contemporary fashion, beauty and childrenswear, while the first floor will house a restaurant, high-end designer pieces and a private dining and events room.
Faradays Creative Director Constance von Dadelszen says the department store’s modern approach appealed to SKIMS, given it had not yet found the right bricks and mortar retailer in New Zealand. The brand is available through David Jones in Australia and Kiwis can also shop online.
“We are building a new breed of department store — one rooted in experience and service, with a roster of activations, events and an ecosystem of content that means a brand can be experienced well beyond the four walls of the store,” von Dadelszen says.
“For SKIMS, that mattered. They weren’t looking for just another stockist — they were looking for a partner who understood how to bring a brand to life in a market, and I think they found that in us.”
