The black tie dress code for the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce provided plenty of room for their guests to go all-out with the glamour.
Beyond shimmering metallic gowns and lashings of glittering jewellery, the beauty looks were undeniably serving too.
Our favourite might just have been Gigi Hadid’s voluminous do, especially when we learned of its inspiration.
The star wore her honey-blond locks styled in a bouncy blowout featuring a deep side-part and sweeping, flowing curls. The look was equal parts polish and modern, with a soft finish that reminded us of those shampoo commercials where long hair is tossed around by a smiling model.
Hadid’s longtime hairstylist, Dimitris Giannetos, named the style a “Soft Serve Blowout,” explaining the look is meant to channel the “sweet feeling” you get by enjoying the delicious dessert. Not only that, but the swirling shape mimics the way the soft ice cream is delivered.
“Having this texture with big volume at the bottom and swirling all the way to the top like a Sundae,” the stylist pointed out of the flow of finished look.
Giannetos was inspired to deliver a style that complemented Hadid’s shimmery, blush-pink Wiederhoeft gown which she paired with a sparkling pink diamond pendant.
“Gigi is wearing a gorgeous pink dress so I wanted to keep her hair very soft and sweet,” the stylist explained.
“I wanted the hair just to be timeless and have those vintage waves with an extreme side part,” Giannetos said, saying the aim was to make Hadid look ‘like a star of a film noir.’
If you’re inspired to ask your own stylist to recreate, know the look works so well thanks to the C-shape layers the stylist cut into Hadid’s hair only the day before.
Giannetos explained the update to the C-shape is called “love layers,’ aka heart shape layers.” It involves more lift on the roots and the first layers start hitting a little below the chin, then extending down to the tips of the hair.
“It creates basically an illusion of heart shape layers,” Giannetos shared. “Volume on the top and more narrow at the bottom, in this case you can create an illusion of contour with the haircut so the face looks more structure.”
For this look the stylist recommends using a a big round brush while blow drying and pinning hair in loose curls until they cool. Then, it’s a matter of brushing through hair with your fingers and giving strands a spritz of hairspray to help hold that tucked shape.
