A magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred around 9.15am local time this morning, with the tremor felt in Melbourne and as far away as the ACT and parts of suburban Sydney.
Strong shudders caused offices to be evacuated in Melbourne and images are emerging of damage to buildings.
The quake hit with a depth of 10km near Mansfield, Victoria. Victoria State Emergency Service says there is no tsunami threat.
